On inspecting the vehicle, it soon became apparent that this car was a truly exceptional find with original matching body and trim numbers, a full complement of tools, books, warranty card and an extensive history file including factory build sheets and brochure.

The car was brought back to the UK and a cosmetic restoration of the vehicle was undertaken by Ian to rectify some very light body imperfections due to 73,000 km of Parisian traffic, numerous oil leaks and 46 year old Italian electrics.

The focus of the restoration had to be maintaining the originality of the vehicle and therefore Ian meticulously carried out the work utilising ALL of the original nuts, bolts and fittings. The main engine, gearbox, axle and steering assemblies retain all of the original internal components and have only been overhauled with new gaskets and oil seals due to leakage.

The body was stripped back to the bare metal to ascertain the true condition of the metal work. This was found to be in exceptional condition with only two very minor paint blemishes that had been repaired and a very small amount of surface rust under the car. The body maintains all of its original panels and chassis, no welding was carried out during the restoration process.

Ferrari have confirmed the colour of the car to be Rosso Cina as you see it today; they have also confirmed all of the trim codes and body numbers.

Since the restoration Ian has worked closely with the Ferrari Classiche department who have verified the authenticity of this very special vehicle and it has achieved Ferrari Classiche certification. The owner was invited to display the Lusso at this year's Salon Prive Concours d'Elegance at Syon Park where it received a great deal of media attention and praise. The car was also on display at this year's Hurlingham Club Fȇte Champȇtre and was awarded the coveted trophy for best in show.

This is a truly remarkable car and was a pleasure to restore.
